Following the touring of 2017’s Turn Out The Lights and 2018’s Boygenius EP, Julien Baker was left at a loss, struggling with her identity as an artist in the public eye and uncomfortable with the life of touring in her early 20s. Needing stability, Baker chose to finish her music production degree, and in the process began to self produce Little Oblivions. Somewhat a departure from her first two albums, Little Oblivions incorporates a full band setup, with bass, drums and synths, all played by Baker herself, filling the empty space of her earlier releases. Lyrically, this is perhaps the most autobiographical release of her already deeply confessional discography, but Little Oblivions rises above this instrumentally, creating anthems in the most unlikely places and recalling her recent guest spot with Touché Amoré and her background in post-hardcore bands. This is a bold step forward from one of the best songwriters of the past decade!
All pre-orders will include a link to an exclusive virtual instore with Julien on March 2nd.
