No strangers to collaborations, the 2 artists struck up an instant kinship and the result is this fantastic album, released via One Little Indian Records.
‘A Window to Other Worlds’ came about due to a meeting between the singers at a writers retreat organised by label-mate Kathryn Joseph, Waterson’s dark lyrics and Barkers naturally sunny disposition combined to create the charming contradictions at the core of the album.
Marry Waterson is part of the great English folk dynasty Waterson-Carthy, the daughter of Lal Waterson who has played on numerous albums by members of the sprawling first family of folk!
Emily Barker, a Truck Store regular over the years, is a UK based Australian singer-songwriter who has dabbled in folk, soul and Americana via her many projects and collaborations. Alongside her solo work and group The Red Clay Halo, Barker is part of the trio Applewood Road.
