Yama Warashi – Crispy Moon, Dinked Edition Pre-order

Dinked 172 comes from London-based psych project Yama Warashi, the recording project of ex-Zun Zun Egui member Yoshino Shigihara. Following the break-up of raucous experimental psych-rockers Zun Zun Egui, Shigihara set about starting a solo career with an altogether more meditative sound. Bristol-based for most of her career, Shigihara recently moved to London, introducing her to a whole new diverse scene of musicians to collaborate with. The result is Crispy Moon, an album of huge textural and musical contrasts, enlisting the musical talents of Vanishing Twin’s Cathy Lucas and Mermaid Chunky’s Moina Walker, amongst others, to create an expansive and wide reaching sonic landscape which stretches from Afrobeat rhythms to moments of transcendent noise. Crispy Moon is released on May 27th by PRAH Recordings.

The Dinked Edition of Crispy Moon is on 350 limited and hand numbered yellow LP with an exclusive obi strip and flexi-disc with an exclusive track.

Hatchie – Giving The World Away, Dinked Edition

Dinked 171 is the sophomore album from Brisbane dream-pop artist Hatchie. Having first caught our attention with her 2018 EP, Sugar & Spice, and her subsequent debut album, Secret, Hatchie (the recording project of Harriette Pilbeam) quickly became one of our favourite indie pop artists, with her mix of C86 jangle pop sounds and razor-sharp songwriting. Now, for her second album, Pilbeam has refined her sound to be louder and more direct, trading some of the blissed-out reverb of her earlier releases for for trip-hop and acid-house inspired synth-rock, working with producer Jorge Elbrecht (Wild Nothing, Japanese Breakfast, Sky Ferreira) and percussionist James Barone (Beach House, Tennis) to create a new expansive sound. Lyrically, Giving The World Away is inspired by Pilbeam’s struggles with her sudden success, finding the artist searching for self-confidence. Fans of Japanese Breakfast, Snail Mail and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart will find a lot to love here! Giving The World Away is released on April 22nd by Secretly Canadian.

The Dinked Edition of Giving The World Away is on 400 limited frost blue LP with an exclusive signed press photo and download card with access to 4 exclusive unreleased tracks.

Advanced pre-orders have sold out of this title but we may have 1 or 2 copies available in-store on release date

Bear’s Den – Blue Hours, Dinked Edition

Dinked 170 is the fourth album from London folk-rockers Bear’s Den. In their 10 years as Bear’s Den, Andrew Davies and Kevin Jones have built their own world of widescreen FM radio Americana and rootsy folk-rock. Now, Blue Hours finds the duo turning their inspiration inwards to write candidly about their recent struggles with mental health, but also the hope and celebration that is needed to overcome it. Working again with their long-term producer, Ian Grimble (Daughter, Manic Street Preachers), Blue Hours incorporates new subtle electronics into the band’s sound, elevating their songwriting to new heights. Blue Hours is released on May 13th by Communion Records.

The Dinked Edition of Blue Hours is on 750 limited and hand numbered crystal clear LP with an exclusive art print. Pre-Order your copy by clicking here

Quinquis – Seim, Dinked Edition

Dinked 169 is the new album from electronic artist Quinquis, the new project from Émilie Tiersen. Initially conceived whilst on tour with her husband (musician Yann Tiersen), Seim sees Tiersen exploring her Breton roots, using her maiden name for the project and finding inspiration in the stories of her home island of Ushant. Working with producer Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Wire, Depeche Mode), Tiersen has crafted an immersive soundscape of sparse electronics and restrained rhythmic elements, all tied together by soaring vocals in the almost-extinct Breton language. Both musically and symbolically, this is a truly stunning release. Seim is released on May 20th by Mute.

The Dinked Edition of Seim is on 400 limited clear and orange whisp LP with an exclusive flexi-disc and signed and numbered print. You can pre-order by clicking here

Crows – Beware Believers, Dinked Edition

Dinked 168 is the second album from London post-punk 4-piece Crows. Immediately after the release of their excellent 2019 debut, Crows headed straight back to the studio to record its follow up, hoping to build on the momentum of touring their truly visceral live show. However, midway through recording, lockdown put the brakes on proceedings and forced a 3-month break from the studio; in this time, the band honed their songwriting and tightened their sound. The result is massive, veering between white-knuckle noise rock and fuzzed-out gothic post punk, all tied together by abrasive production and the Ian Curtis-esque vocals of frontman James Cox. Altogether darker, heavier and more mature than their debut, Beware Believers is the sound of Crows coming into their own. Beware Believers is released on April 1st by Bad Vibrations.

The Dinked Edition of Beware Believers is on 500 limited and hand numbered 180g black and white swirl LP with an exclusive A5 lyric book, A2 print, printed inner sleeve and sticker set.

Honeyglaze – Honeyglaze, Dinked Edition

Next up is Dinked 167, the debut album from London indie-rockers Honeyglaze. Having formed just 3 days before their first show in 2019, Honeyglaze became something of a staple at The Windmill, attracting the attention of indie superproducer Dan Carey (Fontaines DC, Kae Tempest, Bat For Lashes). Combining the rootsy instrumentation of Big Thief with the wry lyricism of Julia Jacklin, with a little sprinkle of Speedy Wunderground production magic, Honeyglaze is a bold statement of intent from one of the most exciting new bands on the South London scene! Honeyglaze is released on April 29th by Speedy Wunderground.

The Dinked Edition of Honeyglaze is available to pre-order on 500 limited dark green LP with a bonus orange flexi-disc and 4 art prints by the band!

Holodrum – Holodrum, Dinked Edition

Dinked 166 is the debut release from disco-influenced synth-pop 7-piece Holodrum! Made up of members of such indie royalty as Yard Act, Hookworms, Cowtown, Virginia Wing and Drahla, Holodrum formed in the wake of the break up of the aforementioned Hookworms, originally as a 3-piece. Over the coming months, the band became a 7-piece dance-rock behemoth, recalling the bizarro-disco of the early 80s New York underground with a healthy dose of Motorik drive and anthemic indie songwriting. Fans of LCD Soundsystem, Working Men’s Club, Liquid Liquid and !!! will find a whole lot to love here! Holodrum is released on February 25th by Gringo Records.

The Dinked Edition of Holodrum is on 500 limited and hand numbered hot pink LP with an exclusive flexi disc and alternate colour disco sleeve with obi strip.

Hannah Peel & Paraorchestra – The Unfolding, Dinked Edition

Here we go with Dinked #165 from returning Dinked alumni and certified Truck fave Hannah Peel, this time in collaboration with Paraorchestra, The Unfolding is released on 1st April 2022 through Real World Records/ Decca.

There are pieces of music that seek to tell us deeper stories. Others harness the talents of the players at their disposal in adventurous ways. Then there are the rare, generous works that make us think back to our roots as human beings and to our shared beginnings in the universe, that lift us in their melodies, rhythms and textures, that carry us with them.

The Unfolding is all of these things. An extraordinary eight-part collaboration between composer Hannah Peel (Mercury Prize and Emmy nominee) and Paraorchestra, it was made over three years in precious morsels of time around a global pandemic. These circumstances – unexpected when the collaboration began – add weight to its explorations in sound about who we are, where we came from, and who we could all be. The Unfolding also explores Paraorchestra’s progressive idea of what an orchestra should be, mixing analogue, digital and assistive instruments with a unique ensemble of disabled and non-disabled musicians to make magic happen, and accessible to all.

The Dinked Edition is limited to 750 copies and is presented on fluorescent orange vinyl, in a bespoke front cover colourway and includes a hand numbered art print.

Keeley Forsyth – Limbs, Dinked Edition

Dinked #164 is the 2nd album from acclaimed actor and singer-songwriter Keeley Forsyth. ‘Limbs’ is released through The Leaf Label on 25th February, 2022.

Limited to 500 copies, the Dinked Edition is available exclusively on Oxblood red vinyl in a signed and numbered exclusive inverse sleeve. It also comes with a 12 page photobook with stills from the ”Bring Me Water’ film. You can Pre-Order ‘Limbs’ by clicking here

Keeley Forsyth’s 2020 debut album found an elemental voice ringing out from beneath the rubble. Understated but devastating, Debris’ success led to a transformation as the songs were brought to the stage. An innate performer, Forsyth found herself channelling something she hadn’t yet fully come to understand, and it was here that the voice found on Debris began to probe outwards and discover a physical form. It’s a form that fully takes shape on her second album Limbs.

Anyone who saw Forsyth perform in the brief window after Debris was released and before shows ground to a halt can testify to the show’s power. In pin-drop silence, enraptured audiences watched as Forsyth inhabited a new body. No stranger to portraying characters in her career as an actor, this was something different.

Limbs is a record of reckoning with that change. After the initial purge of Debris, those feelings of trauma and fear remain but there’s also a life to live. “Save me from the chair where sadness lies,” she sings on opener ‘Fires’, wrestling the need to be creative within the routine of daily life. Where Debris was composed and recorded in close proximity to instrumentalist and arranger Matthew Bourne, Limbs deploys a more expansive palette. With Forsyth at the centre, collaborator Ross Downes acts as another limb, remotely producing the pulses and drones which feed back into the voice. Bourne this time is enlisted to “Bring some of the soil of Debris” into Limbs. The result is clearer and more spacious. If Debris sounded like it was buried under the earth – Forsyth’s voice repressed and breathless – Limbs brings some of that live presence.

King Hannah – I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me, Dinked Edition

Dinked # 163 is the full length debut from Liverpool dream-pop duo King Hannah, a band who wowed us with their EP late in 2020 and are now set for big things!

Liverpool duo Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, aka King Hannah have announced their debut LP I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me for February 25 via City Slang.

King Hannah make music that lives somewhere between the gorgeously meditative pop of Yo La Tengo and the beautiful drama of Sharon Van Etten, the latter of which gave them a cosign for their 2020 EP. The foundation of  I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me lives in Merrick’s, Raymond Carver-Esque realism-inspired lyrics. Formed in 2017, the duo met waiting tables in Liverpool. Having seen Merrick perform years before and being serendipitously assigned to show Whittle the ropes at the new job, he immediately pestered her to play music with him. A writing routine was formed leading to their debut EP Tell Me Your Mind And I’ll Tell You Mine, which garnered early attention from The Guardian, Under The Radar, Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum and more.

The Dinked Edition is limited to 500 copies and is presented on ice cream coloured vinyl in a hand-numbered sleeve and comes with a bonus flexi disc featuring a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘State Trooper’. Pre-Order your copy here

A Place To Bury Strangers – See Through You, Dinked Edition

A Place to Bury Strangers defund post-punk orthodoxy with the most audacious and varied songwriting of their career on their sixth album, See Through You’ out February 4, 2022, on Oliver Ackermann’s label, Dedstrange.   Following up on 2021″s highly acclaimed Hologram EP, the rebooted lineup’ vocalist/guitarist Oliver Ackermann plus drummer/vocalist Sandra Fedowitz and bassist John Fedowitz (both of Ceremony East Coast)’ delivers an overclocked set of futuristic electronic punk music encoded with punishing industrial rhythms, swirling voltage-starved guitars and unclassifiable auditory annihilation.   Across thirteen tracks recorded in seclusion throughout the nihilistic absurdity of the coronavirus pandemic, See Through You is proof-positive that the group hailed as ‘The Loudest Band in New York’ is still finding new ways to push the needle deeper in the red.

Limited to 600 copies, the Dinked Edition is presented on an exclusive ‘eyeball’ picture disc, includes 2 colour flexi discs with bonus songs and comes in a die cut sleeve with a full colour poster! Pre-Order your copy here

Los Campesinos! – Hello Sadness, Dinked Archive Edition

The 8th instalment in the Dinked Archive series is a remastered reissue of Los Campesinos!’ classic 4th album, Hello Sadness. After the huge success of the band’s first 3 albums of emo-tinged twee-pop, the band attempted to make an album of pure pop. Life, however, got in the way, meaning that, despite the album’s perfectly produced pop sound, this is possibly the band’s most lyrically devastating album. Criminally underrated in the band’s back catalog, Hello Sadness is well deserving of its 10th Anniversary treatment – definitely pick this one up if you’re a fan of all things emo and twee-pop! Hello Sadness is reissued on February 18th by the band’s own label, Heart Swells.

The Dinked Archive Edition of Hello Sadness is on 700 limited picture disc with an obi strip hand numbered by the band, A3 poster and printed outer sleeve

Combining layers of swampy blues guitar, folk instrumentation and soulful vocals, Samana’s music is timeless, evoking the best of classic progressive folk songwriting with vintage-inspired all-tape recording. All One Breath is sure to appeal to fans of Big Thief, Weyes Blood and Angel Olsen.

caroline – caroline, Dinked Edition

Dinked 160 is the debut album from 8-piece reverb enthusiasts caroline. caroline is released on February 25th by Rough Trade.

Combining the sounds of slowcore, post-rock and Midwest emo, caroline create stunningly expansive music, with moments of huge polyphony from the 8 members (including 2 drummers, strings and horns!) contrasted with near silence. Recorded over the space of several years, and in many locations, caroline is something of a manifesto for a new era of post-rock, combining both lofi and hifi recordings from the band’s studio, bedrooms, living rooms, a barn in France and even an empty swimming pool into a tapestry of sound. Fans of Duster, early Mogwai and Black Country, New Road will find a lot to love here.

The Dinked Edition of caroline is on 600 limited and numbered clear LP with a bonus 7″ featuring 2 exclusive songs and a signed art print. Pre-Order your copy here

Kreidler – Spells And Daubs, Dinked Edition

Dinked 159 is the new album from Düsseldorf Krautrockers Kreidler! Legends in their scene, Kreidler fuse intricately produced electronic elements with organic instrumentation, resulting in a driving sound reminiscent of later era Kraftwerk, but with perfectly crafted pop structures. Recorded in two sessions, one in the autumn of 2020 and the next in the spring of 2021, Spells And Daubs is the sound of Kreidler at their most melodic, whilst still remaining tightly rhythmic. Spells And Daubs is released on January 28th by Bureau B.

The Dinked Edition of Spells And Daubs is on 400 limited white LP with an exclusive bonus 12″ EP and alternate artwork.

The Reds, Pinks & Purples – Summer At Land’s End, Dinked Edition

Dinked 158 is the new 4th album from San Francisco twee-pop troubadour The Reds, Pinks & Purples. Summer At Land’s End is released on February 4th by Tough Love Records.

We love Glenn Donaldson’s Sarah Records-indebted twee pop here at Truck (this year’s excellent Uncommon Weather has been a mainstay on the shop stereo for the past few months), so we’re thrilled that his 4th album as The Reds, Pinks & Purples is here so soon! Summer At Land’s End continues Donaldson’s run of instant classics that wouldn’t feel at all out of place in the C86 scene, with bittersweet lyrics and a featherweight approach to indie pop production. This is sure to be a huge hit with fans of The Field Mice, Felt and all things Sarah Records and Early 4AD!

The Dinked Edition of Summer At Land’s End is on 600 limited and hand numbered yellow LP with a bonus exclusive second LP, alternate sleeve and photo fanzine.

Spoon – Lucifer On The Sofa, Dinked Edition

Dinked 157 is a big one – the new album from Texan indie rock legends Spoon! Following on from 2017’s groove-heavy Hot Thoughts, the band find themselves embracing a more streamlined vision of rock with Mark Rankin (Bombay Bicycle Club, Queens Of The Stone Age) and Justin Raisen (Kim Gordon, Yves Tumour) behind the boards. The result is some of Spoon’s most direct work to date, featuring downtuned guitars, blown out drums and even an amped-up Smog cover! Lucifer On The Sofa is released on February 11th by Matador.

The Dinked Edition of Lucifer On The Sofa is on 500 limited and numbered cream and orange splatter LP with a signed poster and exclusive flexi-disc.

Dinked Edition

Eve Adams – Metal Bird, Dinked Edition

Dinked 156 is the new album from LA-based Americana singer-songwriter Eve Adams. Metal Bird is released on February 11th by Basin Rock.

Eve Adams has been making quietly devastating lo-fi Americana for the past few years, simultaneously oblique in sound whilst being startlingly direct in lyricism. When family tragedy struck Adams, she found herself relocating to LA, whilst also flying to and from Vancouver to record the album – the ‘Metal Bird’ in question representing the relationship between her familial ties and her obligations as an artist. Recorded with Bryce Cloghesy (Crack Cloud), Metal Bird sees Adams come out from under the lo-fi blanket of her earlier albums into something more direct, drawing from classic Americana, minimalist jazz, Film Noir soundtracks and abstracted ambient. This is a truly beautiful album, sure to appeal to fans of Julie Byrne, Mercury Rev and Johanna Samuels.

The Dinked Edition of Metal Bird is on 350 limited silver 180g LP with a 6 postcard set and ‘build your own Metal Bird’ kit.
