We’re back with Dinked 99(!), the 5th album from the Copenhagen-based post-punks Iceage. Seek Shelter is released on May 7th by Mexican Summer.
Since 2011’s New Brigade, Iceage have been fine purveyors of no-wave and noise rock influenced post-punk, spanning everything from chaotic post-hardcore to their more recent vaudeville-influenced twisted balladry. Now, for their 5th album, the band have brought in their first outside producer, Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3, MGMT, Panda Bear), who pushes the band to make their most varied album yet, working from an abandoned Lisbon radio station, where the band had to avoid puddles and leave buckets to catch rainwater from the leaky roof. Seek Shelter veers between cacophonous, reverberating walls of sound, blues and gospel-influenced groove, and surprisingly romantic ballads, but always with Iceage’s signature chaotic sleaze.
