We’re back with Dinked 76, the new album from the Sheffield-based alt-folk guitarist and songwriter, Jim Ghedi. In The Furrows Of Common Place is released on January 8th by Basin Rock Records.
Jim Ghedi has quietly been becoming one of the UK’s most promising folk upstarts, combining dark melodies and traditional instrumentation with a contemporary edge. Following 2018’s mainly instrumental A Hymn For Ancient Land, Ghedi wanted his voice to be heard in a time where he was feeling politically powerless and experiencing personal turmoil. In The Furrows Of Common Place is the result of Ghedi taking these feelings and directing them into rich poetry, with contemporary issues filtered through the lens of historical allegory, finding allusions to the social and environmental issues of the past. This is a truly beautiful album of intimate folk with instrumentation that is delicate and soaring in equal parts.
The Dinked Edition of In The Furrows Of Common Place is on 300 limited signed and hand-numbered 180g copper/bronze coloured vinyl with an exclusive art print and poem.
