We’re excited to announce Dinked 65 – the new album from New Zealand psych-pop legends The Phoenix Foundation. Friend Ship is released on October 16th by Memphis Industries.
A lot has happened with The Phoenix Foundation in the 5 years since the release of their last album, Give Up Your Dreams, with the band touring with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, soundtracking Taika Waititi’s Hunt For The Wilderpeople and producing works for VR; Friend Ship, is the sound of the band at their most assured, taking this newfound experience outside of traditional indie rock and applying it to their signature sound. Friend Ship is something of a celebration of New Zealand talent, featuring Nadia Reid, Tiny Ruins’ Holly Fullbrook and Motte’s Anita Clark, as well as the aforementioned New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, resulting in an album full of rootsy psych pop and moments of ethereal beauty.
The Dinked Edition of Friend Ship is limited to 500 copies and is pressed on turquoise vinyl with an exclusive screen printed sleeve with an alternate album cover, and comes with 2 bonus exclusive flexi-disks.
