Ryley Walker – Primrose Green

Illinois resident guitar virtuoso Ryley Walker releases his second album and first for the Dead Oceans label. This dazzling, fluid, jazzy collection of songs has nods towards vintage Tim Buckley, Bert Jansch or Van Morrisson recordings, while taking influence from the folk sound of Richard Thompson or more recently the collaborative albums from Damien Jurado and Richard Swift.

Walker wears his influences proudly and makes no bones about his retro-leaning pastoralism being part of a great lineage as opposed to a radical new invention, but when it’s this hypnotically powerful and beguiling who’s to fault a master craftsman doing what he does best?! Highly recommended!
