Mystery Jets – Curve of the Earth

The Eel Pie Island natives have come a long way from their charmingly ramshackle Thamesbeat origins, over the course of 5 albums evolving into a seriously impressive group who remain rooted in the indie scene but have a sound that reaches for huge heights. After excursions into Americana and synth-driven songwriting on their last 2 albums the band have honed everything that makes them great into brilliant focus on this new album. Fusing elements of prog and psychedelia with a big stadium indie sound (think recent albums by Maccabees, Gaz Coombes or even Band of Horses at their most epic), yet with elements of jaunty 70’s prog-pop (they may have been listening to ELO!) in the mix, this is a bold, swing for the stadiums and good on them for going for it!

Great stuff!
