Låpsley – Long Way Home

The debut release from Holly Låpsley Fletcher is a sophisticated modern pop album that belies her teenage years. The Merseyside born singer-songwriter adopted the Scandinavian slant on her middle name in part due to her mother’s connections with the region, but it does perfectly suit the somewhat crisp and clinical approach to her productions which have a somewhat icy feel at times.  Over these meticulously constructed backdrops, which evoke artists such as James Blake, Kwabs or SOHN, Låpsley sings some of the finest R&B tinged torch songs since the last Jessie Ware album.

The perfect balance of contemporary production and timeless pop-soul vocals this is a slinky, smart debut from a very promising young talent.
